Town & Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet

Schools: Lac du Bonnet has both an Elementary and a Senior High School. The Centennial School accommodates from Kindergarten to Grade 6 while the Lac du Bonnet Senior School accommodates Grade 7 - 12.

The local arena has a seating capacity of 100 and hosts hockey games and skating events.


Beaches: The public beach and boat launch are an excellent means of enjoying and partaking in water sports such as swimming and water-skiing.

Bird Watching: The region boasts over 300 species of birds and is widely known as a paradise for bird watching.

Bowling/Curling: A bowling alley and curling facility with four sheets of ice are both located in the Town of Lac du Bonnet.

Boat Docking Facilities

Community Centre: The Community Centre has two halls that can seat 412 and 118 respectively. For larger events, the halls can be combined to seat 530 people.

Farmer's Market: Every Saturday morning in summer, the Farmer's Market and unique shops along the main street offer many great finds to the residents and visitors.

Fitness Centre: The Fitness Centre is located in the Town of Lac du Bonnet.

Fishing: The rivers and lakes in the area make this one of the best fishing regions in Manitoba.  In July of 1984, a 133 pound sturgeon was caught in the Lac du Bonnet lake.

Horseback Riding: Several riding stables are located in the area.

Hiking, Biking, Water Skiing: You can hike or bike the many  trails in the area and  take part in water skiing as well.

Miniature Golf/Golf: There is a beautiful miniature golf course as well as a nine-hole grass-green golf course located in the area.

Parks: Lac du Bonnet has several parks and playgrounds that provide varied recreational activities. For example Sparman Park which is located on the west side of town, has tennis courts which are enjoyed by various residents. You can visit the Pinawa Dam Heritage Park, Nopiming Provincial Park or the Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Floatplane Base/Paved Runway: A floatplane base and a paved runway is available in the area for those who wish to fly into the area.

Seniors' Club

Shopping: Shopping is plentiful in the town.

Sports Complex: A sports complex is available for a multitude of sporting activities.

Tennis Courts: Facilities are available for those who wish to take part in tennis activities.

Trails:

Camping

You can camp at the many campgrounds in the area. Champagne's R.V. Park, located on the La Verendrye Trail, off Highway 11, 2 km northeast of Lac du Bonnet,  is within minutes of golfing, fishing and swimming. There are also nature trails in the park.

At Camp Hide Away, 22.5 km northeast on PR 313, you can go boating, fishing, use the playground and access a store. Lakefront cabins are available with full kitchens and running water. There is a liquor vendor, dock, boat launch, boat rentals and much more available. Contact them at 204-345-2566.

Riverdale Tourist Camp provides the tourist with boats, gas, fishing and a store that is open year round. It is located 16 km northeast on PR 313.

Poplar Bay Tourist Camp has a store, beach, camping, laundromat, boats, fishing licences, tackle and live bait. Check out their webpage at www.poplarbay.com, or contact the Camp at 204-345-2993.

Tall Timber Lodge, located at Bird River, boasts deluxe cabins overlooking the lake, jacuzzis, fireplaces, barbecues and much more. A beer and liquor vendor is available, as well as, a playground, and fully-serviced seasonal trailer sites. Country Escape on the Lake Bed & Breakfast, nestled on a large treed lot overlooking the Lee River boasts spacious bedrooms plus a sitting room. You can fish from the dock or park your boat there.
