The Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet located 75 minutes northeast of Winnipeg along the Winnipeg River is a Four Seasons Playground nestled amongst the rocks and forests of the Canadian Shield.  Economic activity in Lac du Bonnet is diverse with farming, forestry, mining and light industry all contributing to the local economy.  The Town and Rural Municipality combined population is approximately 3,300.

Cold Spring Granite (Canada) has quarried "Colonial Rose" granite locally for over 30 years.  This company with 24 employees ships its building products and monuments across North America and into Asia. 

The Underground Research Laboratory is a world-leading world-class research and development facility.  The URL houses research laboratories deep within the hard granite of the Canadian Shield 420 metres below the earth's surface.  The facilities are used by scientists to develop Canadian and international nuclear fuel waste disposal concepts. 

Wild rice is harvested and processed by Arseniuk Wild Rice and Indian Head Wild Rice in Lac du Bonnet.  In 1997, over 170,000 lbs. of wild rice were processed in Lac du Bonnet and sold to markets in Canada and Europe.  The abundant forests in Lac du Bonnet are a source of supply for the paper mills in Pine Falls.   

Lac du Bonnet is the gateway to the Lee River, Bird River and Nopiming Provincial Park. Lac du Bonnet is cottage country and hosts 60 km of choice recreational waterway. It possesses the second most heavily angled waterways in Manitoba.

Lac du Bonnet is a popular recrea- tion area with top-notch amenities to cater to cottagers and visitors.  Four star hotel accommodations and several quality restaurants, beaches, tennis courts, miniature golf and boat docking facilities are all available.  Visitors and locals enjoy fishing and hunting, as well as, hiking, water skiing and camping.  The trails at Blueberry Rock offer fabulous scenery for mountain bikers, cross country skiers and hikers. The local airport with a 3600 foot paved runway is used by private pilots and local air carriers to fly fishermen to outcamps.  Over 250 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, as well as, numerous warm up shelters along the routes provide fun and enjoyment in the winter time for the Lac du Bonnet Power Toboggan Club and the Lee River Snow Riders. Old Pinawa, located on PR520, is one of Lac du Bonnet's natural wonders.
