Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Whiteshell Winter Festival

February 28 and March 1, 1998

Snow would be nice, but the Winter Festival is shaping up wonderfully - snow or not. There's some great ice sculptures coming to life in the Ice Sculpture Village and they aren't melting! The Dog Sleds are coming - the local kids will be patching any bare spots on their trail. Surprisingly, the skating rink on the river looks awesome! One cool evening is all we need to firm it up and make it perfect. The bonus here will be the great weather we're expecting for the weekend. What a great temperature for getting out to enjoy Pinawa and the great activities we have to offer. Read on.....

Pinawa Welcome to the first annual Whiteshell Winter Festival Site. From the dog-sled poker derby to the cross-country ski lessons, the weekend promises to offer something for everyone to enjoy. After a hard day of working on your ice sculpture, drop into the food tent for a hot chocolate and a meal. Enjoy the live entertainment happening all day Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. Don't know where Pinawa is? Check out the map.

The Festival Committee will be updating this page frequently, so keep this site bookmarked.

One Giant Skating Rink has been set up on the river at the marina just across the street. Look for a ball hockey tournament as well as skating just for fun. The rink will be lit for evening skating. Music to skate by will be supplied by the good folks at the Pinawa Motor Inn, otherwise known as Jalapenos.

All winter long, the LGD of Pinawa has been dumping their snow right here in anticipation of all the fun and frollicking that will take place on this giant toboggan hill. Local wood sculptor Peter Symchuk will be sculpting with a different media as he undertakes the task of designing the best toboggan run in Manitoba. Although the hill's been shrinking the last few days, the LGD of Pinawa will be building it up faster than it's shrinking.
