Council Message:

The Bissett Community Council is delighted to have you visit our community Web site. We hope you enjoy your tour.

Bissett is located in the heart of wilderness country and is situated on the shores of Rice Lake. There are endless recreational opportunities awaiting the eager outdoor enthusiast in both summer and winter.

Rice Lake offers trophy small mouth bass fishing as well as northern pike and recently stocked walleye.

Many lakes are in close proximity to Bissett. There are campgrounds and outback camping available along with local lodging opportunities.

The community is located 250km NE of Winnipeg on PR#304. You can expect maintained gravel roads from Manigotagan north east and heading as far as Wallace Lake and beyond. This only adding to the natural beauty of the area.

Although Bissett has been in existence since the first sighting of gold in 1911, the community was recognized in October 1972 and is represented by 5 elected members of council under the Department of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs. The status of Bissett is that of a "community" as we are not incorporated.

The current population of Bissett is approximately 125 adults and children. Of course this population figure fluctuates greatly with the rise and fall of the Bissett Gold Mine.

Bissett is self sufficient and can offer anything from lodging, groceries, food services, gas, fly out services, camp areas, trophy fishing, beach area, equipment contractors and lumber sales.

Lots are available for recreational and/or residential purposes.

Bissett is surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty and we welcome you to travel to our community "THE HIDDEN PARADISE"
