Dale McKay is a dynamic traditional country artist with original appeal who grew up in Manitoba, Canada. He was inspired by his first acoustic Hawaiian guitar, which was given to him by his uncle at the early age of 5. It struck an invisible chord, which led him into a lifelong journey of the love and enjoyment of country music.
Dale is a self-taught guitar player who discovered his love for the guitar through his exposure to country classic music. Dale's music is rich in lyrical imagery and strong in its artistic roots. His vocal style smacks of his proteges Hank Williams and Hank Snow. Dale has performed at outdoor fairs, rodeos, social functions, as well as cabarets and festivals.
Dale has written and recorded all of his own material combining western lyricism with country rhythm. He was influenced; not only by strong family values of religion and hard work, but also by the gaiety and laughter of close friends and acquaintances who joined up with him.
"Streets of Gold”, his debut CD, is a refreshing CD which shares intimate feeling of loneliness, laughter, beauty and love. The ballads featured in this CD demonstrate a magical simplicity, yet poignant style, appealing to the taste of country music fans of all ages. Contributing to the enjoyment of country music has always been Dale's goal. Streets of Gold" reached #18 on the European Top 50 Charts.
Dale has recorded a new album entitled "Pure Vanilla" which was produced in Nashville, TN by Gary Buck of Broadland International Records. The album features some of Nashville's finest musicians including Rob Hajacos and Milton Sledge. Dale has received airplay in Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and in the United States. Dale was listed as the 10th Most Played Artist in June 2000 on the European Country Music Charts. Several of his songs have charted in the Top 100 songs in Canada.
