Our programs:
The
SADI Projects: SADI involves the development and delivery of educational projects for youth. Our projects are designed to address the root causes of sexual violence and relationship violence. We focus on providing yout with information to encourage healthy choices and healthy relationships.
Volunteer opportunities:
The SARAH volunteer's role is to provide emotional support to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones at hospital following a sexual assault. The SARAH Worker acts as support for the survivors when dealing with medical staff and police. Workers are scheduled on call one week every two months and contacted by pager or cellphone. We are currently recruiting in the region for program volunteers. Our volunteers have varied life, education and work experiences but all see the value of supporting victims of sexual violence.
Our next SARAH Volunteer Training will take place in the fall of 2012. Please watch for recruitment notices in local papers.
If you live or work within 30 minutes of a NEHA hospital in north eastern Manitoba and are interested in a volunteer position as a SARAH Support Worker please email sarah@granite.mb.ca or call 753-3150.
We also have a variety of volunteer opportunities with the Board. Directors attend Board business meetings every two months, with optional educational meetings alternating months. There are also short term tasks and projects that require helping hands. If a Board commitment doesn't fit your schedule perhaps working on a committee will meet your needs. Those interested in learning more about a Director position or short term committee opportunities can contact Holly at sarah@granite.mb.ca or 753-3150
