"Preparing youth for strong, healthy and respectful relationships."
In 2004 we established our organization as an educational resource for schools and service providers in north-eastern Manitoba. This educational division of our organization is called SADI. Through our educational SADI projects we address the needs of victims of sexual violence, relationship violence and family violence.
Ultimately, our workshops address the root causes of relationship violence.
SADI Youth 2010 is our current school project. Our age appropriate workshops for students are guided by the learning outcomes for the Manitoba Physical Education and Health Curriculum. This year we are offering workshops for grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 students.
Grade 6 students have four interactive workshops to choose from:
- Workshop 1: Healthy Relationships and Smart Choices
- Workshop 2: Media - Deconstructing Advertising
- Workshop 3: Boundary Basics and Assertiveness
- Workshop 4: Bullying - A bystander's responsibilities
Grade 8 students participate in three workshops:
- Workshop 1: Building Positive Relationships
- Workshop 2: Gender Stereotyping and Media Influence
- Workshop 3: Online Safety - Stop Cyber Bullying and exploitation
Grade 10 students particpate in three workshops:
- Workshop 1: Respect and Communication in Healthy Relationships
- Workshop 2: Self Esteem
- Workshop 3: Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Homophobia
Grade 12 students choose from two workshops:
- Workshop 1: Dating Violence and Patterns of Abuse
- Worskhop 2: Date Rape and Sexual Exploitation
The grade 6 workshops are 40 minutes in length and we encourage teachers to choose two from the four offered.
The grade 8 and 10 workshops are 65 minutes in length and we deliver all three workshops in the order listed, each workshop building on information provided in the previous workshop.
The grade 12 workshops are each 65 minutes in length and teachers may bring us in to do one or both workshops with students.
Schools in north-eastern Manitoba interested in learning more about our workshops are encouraged to contact us at sadi@granite.mb.ca. More detailed workshop outlines with associated learning outcomes can be provided.
